Welcome to the Garden Party!

We're celebrating the end of a very long, cold winter here in northern Minnesota with a Garden Party in the Gallery! All the pieces you will find here, new designs and a few old favorites, have to do with my most treasured activity - gardening! Planting, weeding, tending, harvesting - all the aspects of growing a garden are inspiration for tiny works of art, some whimsical, some beautiful. All are handmade from fabric and thread, and finished with fine detail.

All items are available for immediate purchase. As I have only one or two of most of these designs, please email me to make sure the ones you are interested in are still available. I can accept payment by check or money order, and by credit cards via Paypal.

Enjoy the party, and please stop back, as I will be adding more pieces next week. Happy spring!

~ Spring Planting ~

One of my all-time most popular designs. This gardener has everything she needs!

3 1/4"

A very tiny version of Spring Planting! This is a SMALL bunny!

7/8" tall

~ Watering Can ~

An essential tool for any gardener-and a nice place for a rabbit to take a nap as well! This is the tiniest bunny I've made-under 3/4" tall. The watering can is about 1 1/4" high, and is hand embroidered.

~ Celebrating Earth Day ~

The Earth is the Great Garden, and it is only fitting that we dedicate a day to preserving its beauty. These little rabbits are doing their part!

~ Cherry Tree ~

The blossoms are made of knotted thread, the tree consists of wire wrapped with fabric and thread. Note the hand embroidered tree T-shirt!

1 3/4" tall

~ Pine Seedlings ~

The tiny trees in the basket are all made from wire wrapped with thread, and the pine needles are thread as well. The basket is embroidered with a stitch called couching, and appears to be woven.

1 3/4"

~ Forsythia ~

A beautiful flowering shrub made from wire and thread, planted by a budding gardener!

1 1/4" tall

~ Hand Embroidered Flower Pins ~

Here's a collection of my favorite flowers, beautifully hand embroidered on little muslin pillows. Each is a delicate and realistic portrayal of one of nature's jewels, and can be worn as such. I can attach a tie tack pin to the back, or add a braided thread loop so the piece can be worn on a chain as a pendant. These would also make lovely dollhouse decorations-let me know if you'd like the piece without pin or loop.

Please note that the photos show the pins as being larger than real size to display the detail more clearly. The actual size of each piece is approximately 7/8" square.

~ Clematis Jackmanii ~

~ Purple Coneflower ~

~ Black-eyed Susan Vine ~

~ Delphinium ~

~ Rudbeckia ~

~ Tulips ~

~ He Loves Me.... ~

Want to know for sure? Ask a flower! I don't know where the idea of pulling petals off daisies came from, but these two sweet rabbits seem to believe that it works. The unfortunate daisies are made from knotted thread.

~ Young Love in Yellow ~

Sits about 1 1/2" high

~ Sweet Sixteen in Pink ~

Sits about 1" high

~ Miniature Bouquets ~

I love making these tiny flowers, and over the years have developed my own techniques for creating them. Some are made from tiny bits of fabric, others from thread tied, knotted, or fluffed. Stems are fine brass wire wrapped with thread. Realistic and delicate, these would be beautiful in a dollhouse. The little vases are hand made by my friend Brian Poor of Roundwood Studios in Maine.

Feather Flowers

1 3/4"

Pussy Willows & Dogwood Stems

3"

Red Roses

1 3/4"

Cabbages and photo by Billie Barthelemy

~ The Harvest ~

Another of my long-time favorite designs!

~ Harvest Bunny ~

3 1/2"

~ BIG Harvest-Asparagus ~

1" tall

~ BIG Harvest-Carrot ~

1" tall

~ Logger Gnome ~

A bumper crop of asparagus, and the garden gnome knows how best to harvest it-with an ax! This hilarious little sculpture features embroidered asparagus spears, thread flowers and tiny stuffed mushrooms.

The gnome stands about 1" tall, the asparagus is a towering 2 1/2" high, and the base measures 1 3/4" X 2 1/2".

~ Strawberries Thieves ~

Two mice on the road to a life of crime!

Mice are about 3/8" long, the crate measures about 3/4" square.
